VolunteerIt takes a proverbial village to run a FLL Qualifying Event. In order for things to run smoothly you almost need an equal ratio of volunteers to participants. The FLL Shelton Qualifying Event Directors would like to thank these individuals for the countless hours they have dedicated to make this event a sucess.

adult supervisor are needed to man this display. FIELD REFEREE - Referees are the ultimate
decision makers when it comes to the competition rounds. They also keep the competition going by

current year’s missions. FIELD SUPPORT - Field support volunteers are the
referees' "right hand men" and enhance event efficiency by helping reset tables
after each round, bringing the referee's score sheet to the scorekeeper, and
leading the teams to the tables. This is an appropriate position for most
students. JUDGES’ ASSISTANT - A judges’ Assistant makes sure
that the teams arrive on time for their meetings with the judges, ensures that
the judging sessions start and end on time, and tabulates the judging score
sheets. This is an appropriate
position for a FRC student leader or alumnus. PHOTOGRAPHER - The Tournament Photographer
should have the basic skills of photographic composition and be able to spend
the day finding intimate team moments, the excitement of winning and losing
during the competition, and the interaction between coach and team members. This
is an appropriate position for most students. PIT CREW - The volunteers in the Pit manage
the flow of information from the other areas and make sure to relay all
changes/information to the teams and the Field Manager. The Pit Crew answers any
questions the teams may have and report to the Field Manager on what may be
happening there. The Pit Crew is
also responsible for signups at the practice field. This is an appropriate position for most
students. An adult member can
monitor the practice tale to insure it is shared fairly by all teams.

students. RESEARCH AWARD JUDGE - FLL presents the Project Award to
the team whose quality research, innovative solutions, and creative presentation
best reflects an in-depth understanding of the various scientific disciplines
and issues involved. The Research

with adults in this role so they may gain insights in the FRC judging process.
It is not necessary to have
technical expertise or knowledge of the subject matter. SCOREKEEPER - The scorekeeper will be manning
the score keeping workstation during the course of the event. The referees bring the scores to the

them to the screen for the audience. This is an appropriate position for most
students with adequate computer skills. SOUND TECHNICIAN/DJ - The DJ is responsible for keeping
the crowd engaged by playing music, monitoring sound levels, and taking cues
from the emcee. This is an appropriate position for students with a good ear for
music and keeping the contest moving by adjusting the playlist to the mood of
the crowd. The standard playlist
has been vetted for appropriate content. Students with extensive music collections
and interest in this type of thing should sign up. TEAM AMBASSADOR - Team Ambassador manages event
traffic keeping areas open so teams can move effortlessly from the Pit to the
queue, the competition floor, or judging areas. Team Ambassadors also escort Teams to and

students. VIDEO TECHNICIAN - The Video Technician is
responsible for changing the display on the screens from camera feeds to scoring
results or rankings. This is an
appropriate position for most students. It would certainly help if the student

camerawork is fairly static on the competition table day-of training should
suffice. VIDEOGRAPHER - The Tournament Videographer should have the basic skills of video composition and be able to spend the day recording intimate team moments, the excitement of winning and losing during the competition, and the interaction between coach and team members.
